About this event
Rebecca Eyer will be teaching Laura Heine’s collage technique using Laura’s pattern, Teeny Tiny Group #5, with emphasis on the Featherweight sewing machine.
In class, students will learn a six-step process to create a collage quilt. We will discuss fabric selection with focus on coordinating colors including tone and shade. I will introduce tools and products that make the process easier and assures a beautiful quilt upon completion. This is a hands-on class where students begin their quilt using the techniques demonstrated. After learning the collage technique, students will look at fabric differently – from the eyes of a collage quilter and how a particular fabric may be utilized in their next collage project.
It's suggested that you use the Teeny Tiny #5 pattern which is available at many quilt shops and on Laura Heine's website - https://www.fiberworks-heine.com/collage-laura-heine.htm
Kits are also available on the website.
If you already own another Teeny Tiny pattern, you can use it for the class but the focus will be on the Featherweight.

About Rececca Eyer-
I began sewing doll clothes with my grandmother when I was about 8 and have been sewing ever since. I graduated with a degree in Home Economics Education which included classes in garment construction, fabric characteristics and color selection. I began quilting when I retired a few years ago. A Florida friend introduced me to Laura Heine’s collage quilting. I took my first collage class with Laura Heine at Flash Sew & Quilt in Naples, FL in 2023. I was inspired to become a Certified instructor and went to Billings, Montana to be trained by Laura and returned in July, 2025 to become an Advanced Certified Instructor. Since my first class with Laura, I have created 23 Laura Heine collage quilts and plan to keep adding them to my collection.
